Lympstone Entertainments
A programme of live professional performances has been brought to the village by Lympstone Entertainments since 2005, with the presentation My Life with Kenneth williams. We have presented theatre, dance, puppets, poetry and music of all kinds – classical, jazz, folk, choral, cabaret… It has been a feast of entertainment.
And in 2007 we founded Lympstone Film Society. The first film shown was Cinema Paradiso.
Our one unashamedly amateur event is the annual Village Concert, featuring the talented performers of Lympstone itself. Their drawing power and their generosity raise the money that enables us to book professional artists throughout the rest of the year.
Most performances are either in the excellent and flexible village hall, which can be used as a proscenium arch theatre, an open stage or a café theatre, or in Lympstone’s beautiful parish church, which is renowned among the musicians who have performed there for the quality of its acoustics. Occasionally we go outdoors, for performances on the boat shelter slipway, or annually in a woodland garden for productions of Shakespeare or other classic plays.
We have presented well over 100 professional events in our existence, and paid our way without a grant or major sponsorship. We have been able to do all this because we have an audience in the village hungry for high quality live entertainment, who enthusiastically support our presentations.
We have a great group of supporters who help with the setting up for performances, hosting artists and operating the lighting, the sound system, the projection and the bar. If you would like to help in any capacity, please email us on contact@lympstone-entertainments.net..
We are a non-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers.
